The OSHA Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) is an elite group of companies who put the safety of their employees first. By maintaining pinnacle safety standards, OSHA VPP participants are exempt from OSHA-programmed inspections—and experience 50% fewer workplace injuries.
Some of the most respected companies in the nation are members of VPP, and it helps them remain competitive. The average VPP worksite has a Days Away Restricted or Transferred (DART) case rate that is 52% below average. VPP participation can also lead to cost savings from increased productivity, lower employee turnover, and reduced workers’ compensation premiums.
Become a Member of the Safety Elite—We Did!
Hellman & Associates became VPP certified in 2010 to stand behind our commitment to safety and gain first-hand understanding of what it takes to become a VPP star site. We are just one of three safety consultancies in the country to hold that honor. Since then, we have helped numerous companies achieve and maintain their OSHA VPP star status.
Make no mistake, the process is challenging! We are regularly recommended by OSHA to help with:
First-time applications
To participate in VPP, employers must submit a comprehensive OSHA VPP application and undergo a rigorous onsite evaluation by a team of safety and health professionals. H&A will perform a worksite hazard analysis, evaluate your EHS program, help you fill in any gaps to prepare for your inspection, and support you in the documentation process.
Status renewal
VPP star status is not a one-and-done achievement. Participants are re-evaluated every three to five years to remain in the program, and the paperwork and inspections are every bit as arduous as the first time around. H&A will help you ensure that you maintain the status you worked so hard to earn.
